CocoWalk, built November 1990 by Constructa U.S. and Steiner & Associates, was Florida’s first lifestyle center. Recognitions include the ICSC Award (International Council of Shopping Centers) in 1992 for design and construction, and the EDDI Award (Entertainment Development & Design Innovation) in 2000. Features include movie theater, restaurants, shops, parking garage, 24-hour security, and live entertainment Thursday through Sunday. In 2006, CocoWalk was bought by New Orleans-based PMAT Real Estate Investments LLC with the aim of returning CocoWalk back to its “glory days.”
