Two-day tribute to legendary Cuban pianist and composer Ernesto Lecuona

On the 50th anniversary of his death, New World School of the Arts (NWSA) will pay homage to Cuban pianist and composer Ernesto Lecuona. First in the NWSA Latin Music Legends series, the two-day concert is hosted by NWSA dean of music Dr. Milton Rubén Laufer, featuring Soprano Marina De Ratmiroff, pianist Ciro Foderé, and The New World School of the Arts Chamber Orchestra, directed by Brent Mounger.  Continue reading

Summer Theater Academy to help low income high school students

New World School of the Arts is among 49 recipients of a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge. The $25,000 grant allows the New World School of the Arts Theater Division to create the Summer Theater Academy, a program to help talented, low-income students gain an edge in auditions, through training, for collegiate arts programs.
