SOUTH FLORIDA JAZZ 2010-11 CONCERT SERIES South Florida JAZZ celebrates its 19th anniversary on November 20th with “An Evening with Chick Corea – A Solo Piano Concert.” The subsequent six concerts, which are held on the second Saturday of January through June 2011, feature premier local, national, and international performers including Christian McBride, Kurt Elling, Mulgrew Miller, Jimmy Cobb, Amina Figarova, and others. GOLD COAST JAZZ SOCIETY ANNOUNCES 2010-2011 SEASON OF JAZZ
LET THE MUSIC EMBRACE YOUR SOUL! – This year’s jazz series includes seven jazz concerts featuring international jazz stars as well as outstanding local jazz talent. Concerts occur at the intimate Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, which is located at 201 SW 5th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. All concerts begin at 7:45 pm. Prior to each jazz show, Stu Grant, host of WXEL FM’s “Jazz Impressions,” will present a lively pre-show jazz talk prior beginning at 7:00 pm. The Jazz Museum of Florida announces plans to establish the JAZZONIAN Heritage Orchestra (JHO): a full 20-piece World class concert big band Jazz ensemble composed of professional area musicians with the mission of celebrating Jazz! JHO will be the signature ensemble of the Jazz Museum of Florida, Inc featuring a repository of traditional musical works from the great Jazz masters and original contemporary works, as well as participating in educational initiatives that will help to empower young Jazz musicians in South Florida. As a SFJS volunteer, you will be front and center as part of what will be a historic event that will benefit the Jazz community as well as impact the area far and wide. SFJS volunteers play a vital role that will enable you to practice your talents and enhance your creativity, enrich your appreciation for the art of Jazz, meet many great Jazz artists and others in the Jazz industry; be in the forefront of helping to empower Jazz in South Florida; witness new and emerging young talented Jazz artists; and help bring awareness about the joy of Jazz to many people in the community.
