Van Dyke Cafe Upstairs: 2009-07-08

South Beach's Van Dyke Cafe.

We spent an evening enjoying the Jackson Bunn Group at the Van Dyke Cafe Upstairs. Now managed by Luca Voltarel, the Van Dyke offers fine food, great service, full bar, and live music nightly from 9 to 1 (no cover). Entertainment bookings by music director Randy Singer. There's a sound system by Sonic Nerve Studios and a grand piano. Staffed by an acoustic engineer. No smoking indoors. Valet parking, street parking and parking lot with meters. There's a monthly line up of local and national acts in the genres of Funk, Latin, Soul, R&B and Jazz. According to Ana, “ . . . this quintessential South Beach spot is special . . . every corner is tastefully done . . . if one word could be used, it would be ambiance . . . the place captures you the minute you walk in . . . stylish, great acoustics and sophisticatedly comfortable . . . we will certainly return.”
