Fritz & Franz Bierhaus: 2009-01-23
Bavarian themed Fritz & Franz Bierhaus in Coral Gables (on Satchmo’s Blues Bar and Grill's old location) offers Austrian, German and American brews as well as authentic Austrian/German food. Ana and I were impressed with our dinner and we thank proprietor/chef Harald Neuweg for encouraging live music (he is the founder and organizer of the annual Coral Gables Bluesfest). As of this writing, Piano Bob performs each Wednesday from 8pm to midnight, and every Friday 6-10pm there are bands on the plaza. No smoking indoors. Well lit street parking with meters and more parking in the City garage (entrance on Aragon Ave).
Approaching Fritz and Franz Bierhaus. The band Deck 52 is playing.
Frontal view of Deck 52.
Plaza. Entrance is to the left.
There are two entrances. The one above leads to the bar side, another one is further right and opens to the dining side.
Closer view of the covered outdoor area and plaza.
Walking into the bar entrance, the bar is to the left.
I turn the camera a little to the right.
I turn further to the right. The bar is at my back.
Another right nudge. The backlit camel is over the second entrance.
Another perspective of the dining entrance/exit.
Nook with displays enclosing the dining entrance. A South Florida Blues Society charter membership placard is on the left.
View from the end opposite the bar. At the right is a covered upright piano which Piano Bob (Bob Wilder) plays every Wednesday night.
I spotted famed humorist, writer and Pulitzer Prize winner Dave Barry. Dave has been at The Miami Herald since 1983 and plays a mean lead guitar in the rock band Rock Bottom Remainders.
