Bayside Marketplace: 2007-12-22
Bayside Marketplace is a large, airy waterfront mall adjacent to downtown Miami, south of American Airlines Arena and north of Bayfront Park. There is ample, well-lit covered parking on premises but it is expensive (on this late Saturday night, a flat fee of $17). However, reasonable parking options are found outside the mall. Think of the parking fee as a cover charge - "mall" doesn't do Bayside justice as it is a joy to stroll through this exotic place and there is a focus on entertainment - the Marina Stage hosts live music seven days a week, every afternoon and evening. There are boat tours, bars, restaurants... and shops.
I am standing inside Bayside, west of Let's Make a Daiquiri, pointing west to Bayside's main entrance.
These docks are north of the Marina Stage.
I pointed the camera more to the left. If you walk straight ahead, you will find more shops and restaurants. If you keep going, you will leave Bayside and enter American Airlines Arena.
Bayside's Marina Stage boasts a weatherproof sound system. In back is a long concrete ramp to help load band gear.
The tall white structure at the stage's left corner are speakers. The white box behind the speakers holds amplifiers. All is secure and weatherproof.
South corner of the stage and more. Continue and you'll see more shops and restaurants including Hard Rock Cafe, Latin American Cafeteria, Lombardi's Ristorante, Mambo Cafe and The Knife. On the second floor is a food court.
The Fit plays classic rock to an appreciative audience. See the horizontal red stripe in the middle right background? It belongs to Let's Make a Daiquiri. They, in partnership with Bayside's management, help make the music happen.
Isn't the crowd lovable? And so are the poinsettias.
From the north, another view of Bayside's Marina Stage area.
Entertainment schedules are prominently displayed.
Let's Make a Daiquiri has long interacted with bands by scheduling them, writing their paychecks, and giving them all-around support. I think of them as Bayside heroes. Bayside Marketplace Let's Make A Daiquiri |
