In our quest to find a low-vision-friendly phone, we found a winner. Forget the iPhone, as Ana needs a keyboard and user-replaceable battery. It's not Windows Phone 7, as its fonts and screen magnification are not configurable - even through 3rd parties (yet this was do-able on the Windows Mobile it replaced). Scratch Android (no screen magnification and limited font sizing). It is the Blackberry Torch 9800. With truly global text sizing, screen magnification (unavailable) is unnecessary.

Update 2011-02-23: Ana and I each have had a Blackberry Torch since. We are pleased. Everything just works. Great keyboard, battery life, messaging, calendar, etc. If I were to nitpick, I'd say that the "Blackberry Desktop Software," at least on my Windows 7 64-bit system, could use a bit more polish. To keep it in perspective, note that I'm an overbearing perfectionist.
