Cat Daddies: 2007-11-03 at Black Point Ocean Grill

The Cat Daddies give Black Point Ocean Grill hearty servings of classic rock and blues.

Ana and I drove to Black Point Ocean Grill not knowing what to find (seems the Grill has no website). As we left the car, we heard an awesome tight band with great vocals and, with reverberant music enveloping the parking lot, we felt we had arrived at a rock concert. No surprise to find the Cat Daddies. Looks like their new lead guitarist, Jorge Cossio, has settled in. Three members of this four-piece classic rock and blues band (the two guitarists and drummer) sing well enough that no one knows who's the lead singer. Above, from left to right, we have Jorge Cossio on lead guitar and vocals, Tim Turman on bass, Larry Erickson on drums and vocals, and Brian Butler on guitar and vocals. The band's website is at http://catdaddiesband.tripod.com

Update 2008-06-25: Drummer and founding member Larry Erickson moved to north Florida because of a personal and business opportunity. He has been replaced by the also excellent Dean Vellenga.

Larry Erickson's drumming drives the Cat Daddies.

Larry Erickson's artful drumming combines skill with musicality.

Brian Butler, on vocals and guitar, is crucial to the Cat Daddies. The new lead guitarist/vocalist Jorge Cossio has come into his own. Tim Turman's skillful bass playing enhances without overshadowing.

A Saturday night wraps up to a happy ending with the Cat Daddies.
